Yeah, I mean if you won't put in the work to find out if it's true... then yes, a 5 minute video may not convince you...

the real question is why you won't put in the work to begin with. Why listen to one man over another? I mean, just a tiny snippet of interesting evidence is the fact that atheists and theists alike use the Bible as a PRIMARY resource in the discover of ancient peoples, events, and sites. There hasn't been a single archeological or historical discovery that goes against what the authors of the various books of the Bible document. On the contrary: literally all the discoveries continually support the accuracy of it. Figures like nebuchadnezzar and ND Pilate were thought to be myth just 100 years ago, among MANY others.

The best part is that he was debated into a corner just a couple comments below this and he has not responded since.

Luke and anyone else claiming such things would be wrong.

Jesus Himself said that the blood of all the Prophets were on that generation because they did not recognize Him. They were too preoccupied by their own notions of what God would do and who He would send. Daniel and Isaiah laid out a timeliness of when the Messiah would come and how, to the day. God wasn't wishy washy with this.

One would have to ask why the "wise men" came or why the order was given to kill all the children below a certain age.

The time could be known, the Messiah could be known, and some DID know and watch.

When it became abundantly clear, that generation did not want Him, not the Messiah God said would come. They wanted what THEY thought was best, those that DID want a Messiah. Others, like the Pharisees, did not want the Messiah or God.

So, do believe in the resurrection? Why, or why not?

Lol, you clearly only THINK you know what you are talking about... that, or you are just disengenuine. (Side note: I didn't used to care about Christianity or God or any of that. Jesus got me mid-twenties when I came to a point where I absolutely needed the Truth, not just my opinion or ideas). Christianity is based on the resurrection of Jesus Christ. It involves the crucifixion, but anyone can be executed for whatever. The crucifixion came for a specific reason, which I will provide information for because, again, your whole premise is either disengenuine or from ignorance, willful or otherwise.

You and I would be absolute fools if we think we can be ok with Him while we are His intentional enemies, continuing to produce darkness for ourselves and others, sinning against Him. Ever been maliciously lied to? It sure sucks. Ever had that happen with someone who didn't care that it was wrong when they are informed? That is infuriating. That is one lie. Imagine that against God... a billion times over... and He gives chance after chance in His patience for us to repent and get right, and we just don't care. You must be a nut to think He will just be continually be ok with that. That's just a lie, not including blasphemy (dragging the name of the One who gave you life through the mud, which you wouldn't even do with your own mother), or any other sin... and if you, like others, would like to try to trivialize God's character and attributes, willfully or ignorantly, you can go there. I hope you don't. At least get on the same page you proclaim to be on. If you were to talk about Barrack Obama and comment on his red hair or stump leg, I would rightly correct your characterization, or I would not talk about former President Barrack Obama with you until you can stand on the foundation of who I am referring to so that we can build our discussion. In the same way, if you try to trivialize God's attributes like "Just" or "HOLY beyond measure," I will attempt to correct you or just go away while you talk about whoever it is you are talking about, which is not YAHWEH.

I urge you to read this without thinking you know it all. You won't see what you don't want to see, and you won't see what you are unwilling to see. When even a sliver of light comes into one's 100% dark room, it can be blinding and even hurt, and trust me when I say: God's Word was not what I, myself wanted all the time, nor was it always what I instantly accepted all the time.

Your woefully low effort at understanding or even reading the information you reference would get you laughed out of any debate or scientific field. Why do you think your level of unpreparedness is acceptable in this regard, all the while espousing information as if it were reality?

I will be you for a moment:
"My father beat me, left my mother to raise his kids, and I even had to witness him killing an animal with his bare hands"

People would say your father is a brutish tyrant, but you conveniently neglect to mention that your father spanked you, and used a leather strap to discipline you out of love and not anger when, for example, you came home drunk as a teen and insulted your mother. You conveniently fail to mention your father killed the dog he came across on a road trip, suffering intently because he was run over and beyond help, killing it quickly out of a deep compassion for the animal. You conveniently fail to mention that your father left your mom every day to work and provide for the kids AND her.

You paint a different picture for people when you include ALL relevant information. You are either ignorant or willfully misleading... or deceived, possibly deceiving yourself.

1) God gave free will. Without it, no relationship, just robots. (If you prefer that, then stop talking, trust Christ with your all right now, and do only what God says to do, in prescriptive text, not descriptive, so that you will practice what you preach and not be a foolish hypocrite)

2a) He says He desires that all be saved and none perish, so He is incredibly patient and long-suffering, allowing evil until all be saved.
2b) on that note, it is crazy how arrogant atheists are... the peak of "delusion of grandeur". For all you know, what we have now until the end is the best possible universe and scenario to save the most people by the end while still allowing for free will. Why, you don't even know what results even one of your choices will have 10 years from now, and who it will impact... just nuts... you know nothing in that regard...

3a)if you haven't actually even made a real attempt to research the Bible and what the Messiah was and is for humanity, just be honest and say you are a fool, talking out of your rear-end. Or be honest and say you are dishonest or disengenuine...

From Genesis to Revelation is about the Christ and God's redemption of mankind. Your mockery of it does nothing to negate the AMPLE information available to all so that all may know how ignorant and simplistic your summary was.

3b) did you bother reading the covenant with Abraham and what each part meant? What it meant when God put Abraham to sleep and God Himself walked through the pieces... ALONE?? Or any other of the AMPLE pictures of God's mercy and compassion toward you amd His redemption plan?

4) sin is the free will choice to be against God in the tiniest of ways. God is light, and when something blocks even a tiny portion of that light, a vast shadow is cast. God says He forms the Light and creates darkness, and that is the most simple way to put how that seems to happen.

5) your mockery of "save us from Himself" and all that reveals your painfully low level of effort in understanding who you are talking about.
You know the Bible says Satan will be destroyed by the splendor of His coming? Just His splendor, His radiance, is more potent than any nuke you can imagine. Disintegrated on arrival.

His holiness? Holy means set apart, and there are ample references that indicate that attempts at comparing God to anything or anyone in creation is incredibly nonsensical, that you are already in error.

His honor and righteousness? The train of His robe filled the Temple, as Isaiah saw. FILLED IT. The train being a symbol of a king's honor, dignity, respect, and lordship. The longer it was, the more honor and lordship was due him.

There is much more, but THAT YAHWEH saw you and I sin against Him. THAT KING saw you and I rebel against Him. He made you, wrote the code of your DNA, gave you math and a brain and other things to see His ridiculous wisdom, gave you some sense to observe and know things like that DNA doesn't get more complex over time, but that science and observation reveals DNA amd information only deteriorates, dissipates, and tends toward chaos over time.

Come on... come the heck on...

6) that King stepped down to our level and, since His Word is Truth, and His decrees are with absolute authority and irrevocable since He does not lie and cannot... guess what? Sin is punished. He is just, the absolute PEAK of justice, allowing no crime to go unpunished. Death is the payment for sin. That is what is owed. Your wages. One works to sin.

................In the presence of He who one could not even see face to face and live because of His radiance and glory, one who sees all and allows not the tiniest bit of darkness to exist... in the presence of THAT GOD, you think God will just protect you or I who are full of that darkness? You think He will just let us go for no reason while we are unrepentant? You think He will be an unjust judge? You think He will be a bad boss and not pay you what He promised to pay you? You who worked for wages you were told you would receive?

My goodness...

In His great mercy, He has offered a gift: salvation, life, a right relationship with Him. You and I can't be on good terms with Him when we are His intentionally enemies and refuse His great gift. What nonsense...

He forgave the debt He owes you, the payment you worked for He received on Himself. The Justice due you, He offers to take it for you. You and I chose to commit crimes against Him, breaking His law, racking up a fine we can't pay, in a sense. He, Jesus, steps in a pays the fine you know is due, defeats death for you, taking the death penalty on Himself, and proves He is who He says He is by raising Himself from the dead. He lives now and is still patient until the time is complete and all who are His have turned to Him and have received His gift of life and righteousness.

Get some wisdom or at least acknowledge if you just hate the God of the Bible, even if you ARE completely ignorant of who you are talking about or what He says. His patience is not infinite... you do not know if you will wake up tomorrow or the next day.

Morality is a human concept developed to encourage that which is pragmatically good for humans, what allows us to survive and get along with each other. No God required. God is a human created enforcer of human created morality to support the human need to live together.

In the words of Mae West, "Goodness has nothing to do with it" It has a great deal to do with power and nothing to do with 'goodness'.

I deny the logic. Unless you think that I am a dog on the internet, now you are aware of a non-thiest human and sometime philosopher, although not published, that denies the logic. It only takes one.

I will grant you the first premise. I particularly deny the second premise. Objective moral values and duties do not exist.

Therefore god does not exist.

You can play all the word games that you wish to. You cannot get away from the fact that each and every moral value committed to stone, animal skin, papyrus, or paper was invented by a human being that had some kind of power to enforce their view on others. It is you, not Sam Harris or anyone else that is guilty of equivocation. By not understanding the difference between an invention and a discovery. Inventors invent. Explorers discover. If you are done exploring then either lead, follow or get out of the way.
