Sure atheists have a belief system. They believe there are no dieties. That is an inherently religious statement, which makes a religion. That is one of their doctrines. Another is that atheism is a religion of peace. Another is that Christianity and science are mutually exclusive. And another one like it is only atheists use science. They are all wrong, but they believe them just the same.

The reason why you don't understand why this is a topic of discussion is because you don't understand what constitutes a religion.

And for you information, Christianity is based on reason and observation also. Your claim that that is unique to the atheist religion is false.

First of all, atheism is simply a non-belief in gods, and atheists DO NOT WORSHIP the fact that they are an atheist. Atheists have no litany, no scriptures, no doctrine, no ceremonies, no organisation, no meetings, no deity, and no belief system in a higher being. Atheist's center on reason and observation, and do not require religious morality, as morality is NOT the purview of religion.
