Hiram, the village
atheist has an IQ of 152. How does that work with souls and bodies? Is
it Davie's soul that has low intelligence? Or is it his brain that
does not allow the intelligence potential of Davie's soul to operate at
peak efficiency? Is it possible then that souls all have IQ potentials
of 200? How does this all work? Was Davie predestined by God to be
the village idiot boy?

How does this soul - body thing work?

Yer still asking me to make a positive case only now by proxy. As Megan Treynor says "No". Saucy lass she is.

You will get no positive case. You may read up on the Five Ways or read some books by Feser carefully and come back and discuss & dispute the particulars. You may read the works of Brian Davies on the Problem of Evil and prove a better dialog participant then WCB who is at this point quite mental.

Anything else go bug the creationists.

I have not renaged on my word at all. You can take the emotional reason why you became Christian to your grave. Fine by me.
I asked for an example of an individual you are aware of who became Christian based on hard evidence.
How difficult is that?

Sorry but yer personal subjective experience is not in line with mine and is hardly valid from the very Verificationist standards you tried to ad hoc impose on me.

Pop Psychology Atheism is as tedious as pop psychology theism examples:"You just hate God because you didn't get the pony you prayed for as a wee one!" or the endless discussions on how mean Stalin's Father was and how cold & strict Marx's Father was.

>Tell me of an evidenced-based conversion story, my good man.

No. One post and you went back on yer word. I am not making a case. Make yer positive philosophical case for yer Negative Atheism being a correct or valid belief system or a case for yer skepticism or poke holds in mine.

Burden is on you. My hoose sassanach.

I have no reason to positively believe this hypothesis

etc...

If this is the case, then as far as I am aware from those I have interacted with and everything I have read over the years, you would likely be unique among believers of all stripes.
Unless, of course you could positively identify a believer you are aware of who has cited hard evidence for their belief in Christianity, especially the core tenets?
Even someone as highly intelligent and accomplished in his field as Francis Collins acknowledged there was emotional trauma involved in his eventual conversion.
But maybe you are correct?
My curiosity is genuinely piqued. Let's see if we can take this conversation to a more serious level, shall we? Tell me of an evidenced-based conversion story, my good man.

Yes and it won't make me change my mind. But as long as you quit yammering about it we are good. You can go back to yer Gnu buddies tell them I cana answer yer Gnu Atheist equivalent of "Ape human child" question & proclaim yerself the winner! They will sing songs of yer bravery and one day you and Kam Ham can have a wrestling match to determine the existence of God like in that Monty Python sketch. Smashing.

BTW I couldn't find the video of that scene (not that I put in much effort looking.) But this one has a bunch of Atheists in it so I guess its kind of the same.....it is funny regardless.

>Oh, I accept that you refuse to offer any evidence for the claims you make and also accept that you won't divulge details of the reason why you are a believer.

FINALLY! Geez that is like pulling teeth..... I will hold you too this.

> But we're both adults so let's be honest here, Jim, there really are only a few reasons, and all involve some form of indoctrination, underpinned by emotional issues of one sort or another.

I have no reason to positively believe this hypothesis even if there are no gods. There could in principle be seemingly very very good reasons I believe that might turn out to be wrong. Let us take a historical example. The movement of the Earth. If you where a scientist and an Atheist living hundreds of years ago with only the available scientific tools and data available back then to judge you would have concluded Galileo was a ponce. Obviously today no astrophysicist worth is salt would go by Galileo's faulty arguments for the movement of the Earth. That doesn't mean the Earth isn't moving rather his reasons for this truth are knackered. Which they where it would take hundreds of years for a Catholic scientist named Fulcrum & his pendulum to get the ball rolling proving the movement of the Earth.

So yer everybody who is religious is indoctrinated hypothesis because there can be no good reasons to be religious is fallacious on the surface even if there are no gods

>And in the interest of full disclosure, yes, it warms the cockles of my heart to think that there may be someone /fellow catholic/believer reading an answer such as: ''Go study philosophy yer fundy Gnu Atheist'' and thinking how much of a complete twit you are!

Well against stupidity even the gods themselves contend in vain as I have learned all my life arguing with low brow uneducated Fundies wither believers or infidels.

I am confident if I somehow stop believing you will get no credit & I will more than likely think yer arguments are as stupid as Galileo's. One can be right & still believe something correct for stupid reasons. Maybe yer wrong or maybe yer right? But if the later it is obvious to me it is likely for stupid reasons. I mean you don't know a lick of philosophy not even Atheist philosophy. What good are you?

Which is sad because you might not be stupid. Yer just lazy laddie. Well I am too but I don't pick fight I know I don't have the skill to win...yet.....

You OTOH are guy who while drunk calls the body builder black belt martial artist's mother a foul name and thinks you can take him. Yeh good luck with that mate.....

Oh, I accept that you refuse to offer any evidence for the claims you make and also accept that you won't divulge details of the reason why you are a believer. But we're both adults so let's be honest here, Jim, there really are only a few reasons, and all involve some form of indoctrination, underpinned by emotional issues of one sort or another.

As I have an interest in religion and Christianity in particular ( I was raised in a Christian home after all, albeit cultural rather than the unwavering fundamentalism you espouse) I consider that if someone makes a claim championing their faith I am perfectly at liberty to ask for evidence to support any such claim.

Witnessing your incessant theological tap dancing simply confirms what every atheist and former believer already knows.
Furthermore, while I have no intent or particular interest in ''converting'' you, much to your personal chagrin it seems, others who may be reading along might well be having some doubts and are considering the type of questions regarding this post and Rauser's post on genocide, including the issue of evidence that you are steadfastly avoiding.

And in the interest of full disclosure, yes, it warms the cockles of my heart to think that there may be someone /fellow catholic/believer reading an answer such as: ''Go study philosophy yer fundy Gnu Atheist'' and thinking how much of a complete twit you are!
